Need help with Sunset Predictor with AR? You're in the right place.
Getting Started
The App asks for a few permissions the first time you use certain features:
- Location — required for sunset predictions, direction, and timing at your location. If you tapped "Don't Allow" by mistake, you can re-enable it anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Sunset Predictor with AR.
- Camera — only required for the AR Sun Path view. Enable it in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → Sunset Predictor with AR. Every other feature works without it.
- Notifications — optional, only needed if you turn on Sunset Alerts. Enable or disable anytime in Settings → Notifications → Sunset Predictor with AR.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does it say "Today's sunset has already passed"?
The App checks the current time against today's actual sunset time at your location. If you open the App after sunset, it won't show a score for today — select tomorrow or another upcoming date instead.
Why can't I get a quality score for a date I picked?
Weather forecasts are only reliable for about 7 days out. For dates further in the future, the App will still show you the exact sunset time and sun direction, but won't guess at sky quality that far ahead.
The AR view isn't lining up with the real sun. What's wrong?
Try moving away from large metal objects (railings, furniture, vehicles) and giving your phone a figure-8 wave to recalibrate the compass. If it's still off, fully closing and reopening the AR view usually resolves it.
Can I check a location I'm not currently at?
Yes — tap the Location card at the top of the App to search any city or address, or save it as a favorite for quick access later.
Do sunset alerts arrive at exactly the time I expect?
iOS schedules background checks opportunistically rather than at an exact minute, so alerts may arrive a bit earlier or later than expected on some days. Opening the App directly will always show you the most current prediction.
Does this app work outside the United States?
Yes — predictions work anywhere in the world with your device's location or a searched address.
