Abagail and Matthew

Date of your official engagement

September 1st 2018

Wedding date

September 12th 2020

How did you two meet? (The very first time you met!)

We met through mutual friends from college. Once Matthew returned home from training for work and I was on Thanksgiving break we met at a restaurant called Roberts Maine Grill in Kittery Maine, which was a halfway point between us the day after Thanksgiving. We knew what each other looked like through pictures online, but it felt pretty close to a blind date!

The big proposal? (Tell us how he did it, who was involved, did you have any idea, give us the mushy details!!!)

We were in Plymouth walking along the jetty and we had asked a couple we were passing to take our photo and then as soon as they were about to give Matthew his phone back he said he needed to grab something out of his pocket and then pulled out a red box and got down on one knee. Matthew thought the couple may realize what he was doing so they would continue taking photos, but they were just as surprised as I was.

How long have you been together?

We have been together 5 years.

Any tips on what to bring to your engagement session?

(was there something you forgot, something you were glad you brought, or maybe something you thought you needed but didn't?)

If you’re going to be in an area where it’s windy I would recommend bringing a brush. We were right on the water and it was a windy evening so I am very glad I brought a couple different brushes to keep my hair untangled. I would also recommend bringing a few different styles of shoes so you are prepared in case you change the location of your photos that you weren’t originally planning on.

How many outfits did you take?

I only changed once, and Matthew stayed in his one outfit the whole time.

How was your experience during your session?

Our engagement session was so much fun! That was our first time getting professional photos done together so we didn’t really know what to expect. Stephen told us exactly what to do so it was so easy and all we had to do was smile and enjoy the moment!

Location Location Location

(What location did you choose for your session? Why did you choose it? What did you think about it? Do you wish you would have gone some place different or would you suggest where you went?)

We did our engagement photos in Plymouth, MA (Plymouth Waterfront) on the jetty as well as down near the water. We chose this location because that is where Matthew proposed to me and we love spending time on the water. If you are looking to take photos on a beach with amazing sunsets I would recommend Plymouth, MA.
